DREAMING OF EWE

On January 1st 2018, I started me Dream series.I'm now in my 7th year. This year, I'm doing things a little differently and I'm painting each dream on 6x6 paper. Each piece is available to purchase. The idea is that ewe too can own one of my dreams. Next year, all 365 pieces will be photographed as a whole and a limited print will be made.

… Last night, I dreamt that I was with the cast of GILLIGANS ISLAND. We were living out on a small portion of an island. The island soon became a huge resort with mega condos and malls. I lost the cast and as time passed, we aged and randomly passed one another on the island. Soon my family arrived, but we could never find each other. In the end, we all randomly bumped into each other and waited for Johnny to arrive. Mama made an appearance as she wanted to greet Johnny on his arrival.

… Last night, I dreamt that I was in SF and on a freeway with my sisters and Robert. We were trying to figure out how to get off of it … and that’s all I remember.

… Last night, I dreamt that I was in the ARMY. We were hiding in a room with a window. When gunfire started, I ran to the room next door. It was another troop shooting at us. Our troop was up to no good and needed to be stopped. In the other room, the sergeant entered to clear the room. I pretended to be one of them. When we got back to the safe room and I couldn’t follow instructions, she realized that I wasn’t part of their troop. She was about to shoot me when a classmate from elementary school interjected and said, ‘Give him a chance.’ I was allowed into the safe room and when the rest of their troop saw me, they said nothing. After everyone was safe, I let them know that I understood their hesitation and that I was going to do my best to support their troop. When a team challenge came up, I attempted to help the winning team to prove my loyalty, but instead I helped the underdogs. After the underdogs lost, our sergeant let me know that it was the right move. I was in with the team.
While struggling through the challenge, there was a moment where I felt thirsty and wondered how peeps handled it in real life.
💖P.S… this new LITTLEZ called DOGGY is in honor to all the peeps who have served our country. A couple months ago, my grandson joined the Army. He’s the first member of our immediate family to do so. Proud of him and who he is. Love ewe Michael.

… Last night, I dreamt that I was back at 8500. As usual, I found myself wanting some alone time. When I stepped out of the house, I was in a small vintage looking town. It looked like the whole town had a filter. As I walked through a cool restaurant, I came across a small coffee stand. In it, they had Concha’s, a traditional Mexican sweet bread. They were supersized too. Because I’m on a budget, I couldn’t afford getting one.
The dream went on with me unable to find my way back home.

… Last night, I dreamt that both ROBERT and I were working at the Hotel Bel-Air. It was in the middle of nowhere near a prison. As prisoners were coming off the bus, I was showing up to the hotel. There was a cute boy teaching peeps a form of golf. As I entered the hotel, I realized that I wasn't wearing any shoes. I walked back to my apartment, next door to Roberts, and I found him changing outfits ... from a faaabulous GREEN SUIT to a poofy PINK gown. It was too cool. Somehwere in between the apartment and the hotel, I ran into a baby ELEPHANT, a farmer, and HORSES wrangling a wild bull.

… Last night, my dreams felt fantastic. Before getting out of bed, I replayed them. Somehow I fell back to sleep. When I actually got up, all I could remember is carrying a glass of WHITE WINE into a room. The person in the room was drinking RED WINE.

… Last night, I dreamt that I was hanging out with The Real Housewives of Baaaverly Hills. We were in a big old house where filming was not happening at the time. Because I wasn't feeling well, I kept trying to find some alone time.
In the morning, as I lay in bed replaying the nights dreams, I remembered 2 pieces from when I first started the series. Both of these have been sold, but I liked the idea of using them as inspiration.

… Last night, I dreamt that MONI, BLANCA and I were running a marathon as a team. The 3 of us had to cross the finish line. At mile 20, Blanca gave up. I lost Moni somewhere close to the finish line. I never saw myself crossing the line.
In part 2, I was back at FLIGHT001. Even though I wasn’t working there, I kept going back.

… Last night, I dreamt twice.
Again, I went to bed early, this time I got up at 2. Luckily, with my usual sleep exercises, I fell asleep easily.

In part one, a special TV remote was invented. It gave me the ability to alter a show while watching it. In this case, it was GILLIGANS Island. Ginger was chasing the professor. With the remote, I asked the professor if he wanted a BJ from me, I couldn’t make it happen. HA! That’s all I got to.
In part 2, tons of familiar peeps were hanging out at a large mountain cabin. There was lots going on. For the most part, I wanted to spend time alone. In the end, I suggested that an artist do something creative with an APPLE … similar to the recently 6.2 million dollar sale of ‘Comedian’ by Mauricio Cattelan. It’s a banana duct taped to a wall. Somehow, OSCAR showed up to the cabin to discuss the APPLE piece. To everyone’s attention, he mentioned that he had done something similar in Las Vegas. I kept trying to interject to let him know that I had suggested the idea based on what he had done.

… Last night, I went to bed super early (8:20) knowing I’d get up early for Melrose Trading Post today. Since I’d have to create my piece at the market, I had an idea of what I wanted to do.
I had a great night of dream sleep, but because of my idea, my brain wasn’t capturing information.

What I put together is a combination of LITTLEZ describing what I do on a daily basis:

… Last night, my dreams were all over the place. The storylines are blurry and I only have a list of things that popped up. A BABY, my brother JOHNNY, a GUN. I was grazed by a bullet. A HOUSE in the woods, a BAD GUY in a beanie following me. A PIANO, a mega COKE drink, a DOG and a TEDDY BEAR as a gift.

💖P.S… I wonder if tonight some of the storylines will be clear when I lay my head to sleep.

… Last night, I dreamt that I was in SF with Robert. Not clear what we were doing. Then I was taking a couple to my favorite taco place in the city called La Taqueria.

… Last night, it felt like I didn’t sleep at all. I woke up at 4:30 AM feeling like I had just gone to bed.
Without any dreams, I decided to create a list of gratitude using my LITTLEZ. I’m GREATFUL for life, our world, family, friends, inspiration, abundance in all forms, food, home, a healthy body, myself, walking, life surprise, being queer, speaking, alone time, loving support and a sense of wonder.

… Last night, I dreamt but was startled away by a barking dog. Just like that, my dreams were gone. I thought of the word ‘play.’ I could do whatever I wanted. Right away, I knew what to do.
The other day I cleaned out some paint jars and kept the pieces of dried paint … viola… I made some flowers.

… Last night, I dreamt that I was attacked by ROTTWEILERS. I was stuck on a high KITCHEN COUNTER at my aunts mega mansion. A cousin came down and made no effort to resolve the situation. Then, my sister came and she too didn’t help. But the dogs didn’t attack her. This went on for days … even a media helicopter hovered to stay on top of the situation. A 2nd sister arrived and still no luck. Finally, a trainer arrived and taught me how to befriend the dogs. I had to feed them the proper way. Instead of throwing food at them from the counter, I had to hand feed them. The dogs gathered around her with the lead dog upfront. Cautiously, I stepped from the counter. The dogs, in attack position, growled. Slowly, with CANTALOPUE in my hands, I walked over to the lead dog and allowed him to take it from my hands. He wanted more, but just like that, the situation was resolved and I felt safe around them.
Finally, Blanca arrived to the rescue. I wanted to go home immediately, but instead she was there to cater a party for the teenagers and friends of the family. The food was yummy, all was good. My cousin Patty arrived and after tasting some of the dishes, she mentioned she’d be trying some of the recipes.
… I never made it home.
💖P.S… this dream inspired a new LITTLEZ called SING. It’s inspired by my love for cantaloupe.

… Last night, I dreamt that I was back in our EAST LA HOUSE. A group of peeps had teamed up on a project inside and outside. The details are blurry.
💖P.S… this image is inspired by our house. It sat on a hill that back in the day felt so high. The view from my shared bedroom was the LA skyline. There was also a big tree that stood out.

… Last night, I dreamt that after a big man stopped choking my sister, I asked him if he could give me ride home. We were in SF. He drove up into the hills, but I couldn’t remember exact location. He parked and we walked up some hills. On the sidewalk, 2 young girls appeared… both wearing blue dresses. The young one raised her hand and said, ‘I’m VIVIENNE WESTWOOD. I told her that she already existed. She repeated the name… I paused and confirmed she was Vivienne Westwood.

… Last night, I dreamt that I was in a small town in Mexico. There were strange things going on. In the middle of it all, my LITTLEZ kept popping up … like they were leading to something bigger.
In the end, a speech was about to be given and my LITTLEZ: ALICE was going to be introduced in some form… never got to what happened.

💖P.S… yesterday, I spent some time putting together some TSHIRTS and hoodies using DTF transfers. I’m going to start offering a selection of these.

… Last night, I dreamt … and there was so much going on. ELEPHANTS running uphill. HORSES running downhill. A BLONDE GUY hitting on my BROTHER, then on ME. Peeps RUNNING away from something bad happening in the CITY. Meeting up with blond guy and veering off path to have SEX. Had to wait for HIPPOS to pass by. Working at THE HOTEL BEL-AIR and setting up near TREE. Coworker JULIO and I stuck on one side of RIVERBED. Killer FLYING PLANTS and wild BIRDS. Then getting stuck in a SUBWAY station. We were never able to get out.

… Last night, I dreamt that my uncle, Tio Rigo, drove my two sisters and I around Hollywood. When Blanca jumped into the back of the truck, my uncle stopped the truck and gave Moni ‘that look.’ When I saw him look down at his crotch, I grabbed Moni and we got out of the truck. As I glanced over at him, his weiner was out … for a second, I thought about it. HA!

I then found myself alone, wandering the streets and putting up SHEƎP sticker. At one point, I walked into a corner store and a family was purchasing a bunch of my stickers. When they walked outside, I introduced myself to them and gave them more stickers.

… Last night, I dreamt that I ran into my friend Jose at The Hotel Bel-Air. Then, we ended up at a bigger hotel next to a prison. After exploring it, I wanted to get a ride home. Somehow, I ended up with an ABSTRACT painting and a car to get me home.

… Last night, I dreamt that I was in this never living complex. The buildings were all a mustard yellow, there was no one around, and the RAIN wouldn’t stop coming down. All I wanted was to rest, but I couldn’t find the building I was designated. Somehow, it turned into a drag event. I too was in drag. I felt sophisticated and stylish. After some wandering around, I ran into Alaska. She told me that she had told someone about me. Not knowing what it meant, I continued to the venue. I found myself backstage where tons of the queens were warming up. Feeling alone, I wandered out to the main room. The doors opened and the crowds of queens stormed in. Everyone was in drag. Instead of staying to see the show, I walked out of the venue and headed back to my designated building.
This time, I looked down and saw that I was wearing a trashy SNOW WHITE look and not the sophisticated look I imagined. Even though the HEELS were super high, I managed up a steep heel and climbed over a fence. At that moment, the rain started again and all the yellow buildings looked the same.

💖P.S… when painting today’s image, I was going to provide more details and paint the background a mustard yellow. Instead, I loved the simplicity of the original sketch and decided to just color it in.

… Last night, I dreamt that I was with CARLOS ALCARAZ. We ran into my bedroom at 8500. We both knocked out after being injected with a tranquilizer. Soon, he was taken out through the window and when I got up, I was being chased by a WHITE BEAR.
