DREAMING OF EWE

On January 1st 2018, I started me Dream series.I'm now in my 7th year. This year, I'm doing things a little differently and I'm painting each dream on 6x6 paper. Each piece is available to purchase. The idea is that ewe too can own one of my dreams. Next year, all 365 pieces will be photographed as a whole and a limited print will be made.

… Last night, I dreamt and it was a mish mosh of things. Before getting up, I replayed them, but when it came to writing them down in my journals, I lost them. I remembered being with BLANCA and figuring out how to pack a white VAN full of my art. In the last part, I was in NYC with AMY SMITH and MARY LAI. I was there to see Mary’s installation. Before waking, a bunch of us were in an elevator and going out for drinks.

… Last night, I dreamt and my dreams were all over the place. As I replayed them before getting out of bed, I got to the part where a baby HIPPO kept trying to cuddle next to me as I lay on the grass. Weird thing… the hippo was a stuffed animal yet it was able to move around.

💖P.S… because of this, I’m creating a new LITTLEZ called HIPPY. It will be inspired by my love for adaptability.

… Last night, I dreamt that I met an older, sort of good looking man. We connected and I hung with him while he put of some sort of mural… then threw a football around with the kids on the streets. I noticed the wedding ring, but still got some gay and also creepy vibes. While in his truck, I grabbed his crotch and was given the go ahead to blow. It was cool at first, but then he went limp and when I looked up at him he was no longer kinda cute and it all felt gross.

… Last night, I dreamt but don’t recall anything. For whatever reason, I woke up with song ‘Whoomp There it Is’. During my morning walk I remembered an idea that I was meant to sketch, but forgot. So for today’s painting, I’m using it as my inspiration… whomp there it is!

… Last night, I dreamt about @violetchacki again. It went on all night … different events, different outfits, hanging out, chitchatting… at one point she asked me advice about flat shoes. Then at a nightclub, I pointed out that a favorite artist @donald was at the club. He looked like Woody Allen. At some point, @gottmik popped into the dreams and the 3 of us hung out for a while. GOTTMIK was having second thoughts about having bought a GREY Prius. Violet walked away and I consoled Gottmik. Right before waking up, they both cancelled their events for the evening.

… Last night, I dreamt that I was in a HOUSE with PAPA. The neighbor next door was CREEPY, something was off. Out of nowhere, a string of WHITE HORSES stormed through the front door; it was surreal. Something was coming; I snapped out of the dream. ( I went to pee, thinking I was safe when I lay back in bed.) But, I snapped back into the dream. The creep covered the house in black tarp. He surrounded the wall around the house with BARBED WIRE. We were trapped. But I knew that I could snap out of it and I did.

In part two, I was on a REALITYTV show. It started with a challenge in a SWIMMING pool that made no sense.None of us knew the rules. The next thing, we’re at a CHURCH hall and contestants were given different foods to eat; it made no sense. One guy got a German chocolate CAKE. It’s what I wanted. Somehow, I got a few bites. Then … there was an invasion of BAD PEEPS. Everyone ran in different directions. I hid behind a cupboard then ran onto the streets. I was confronted by a contestant. We didn’t know how to play the game. MONI appeared on the run and ran into someone. Because of this, she was eliminated. She made her exit line about a mean girl. No one else, but BLANCA and I clapped. At some point I wore a PURPLE DRESS before heading to the airport to catch a FLIGHT with Blanca. We got there late and missed it.... that's all I remember.

… Last night, I dreamt, but don't recall a single thing. Kinda feels like I never went to sleep. I woke up with the word DREAM in my thoughts.

… Last night, I dreamt that big bunch of peeps were making an adventurous trek through bridges and mountains. It’s all a blur, but it felt exciting and dangerous. Not everyone made it back. Last image I saw was of MAMA and PAPA. They were coming over the last part of the bridge; they looked battered from the trek.

💖P.S… when I woke up this image of them was in my thoughts. So instead of trying to abstractly paint the trek, I’ve used this image instead. I used this image as well for Project 🙃365+.

… Last night, I dreamt that MAMA, sisters and I returned back to our EAST LA house to pick up some things. Afterwards, we went back to our house at 8500. There was some sort of get together and my room was a mess. Somebody had been staying there while I was gone. Rarely, do I dream of the two houses in the same dream.

… Last night, I dreamt that I was on the run from peeps in power. I was able to become invisible whenever I wanted. It went on and on. Eventually, up on a mountain, I was able to transorm myself into a wall of BOUGANVILLA covering fence way up somehwere. I felt at peace. But then, some skate boarders came through and were doing some runs. One of the peeps, skidded off the bouganvilla and immediately, my cover was blown. I was no longer being chased by those peeps in power, cameras were now on watch and a team of peeps were now after me. Invisible again, I flew off through the jungles. It felt like this went on and on. Eventually, I returned to a home up in this unknown city, higher up than I was before. The city was walled off by glass. The walls were super high. My sisters welcomed me, but when I told them what was happening, they didn't believe me. I took them outside to show them how I could be become invisilbe, it didn't work when I threw a football to someone and they threw it right back to me. I tried it a second time and this time, they saw how others could not see me. Somehow, cameras caught the moment and I was back on the run. Because the walls were so high, I couldn't fly out and I couldn't keep my invisibility. A giant teminator like robot popped up ready to destroy me. I had two little knives that I threw at the robot. It momentarily short circuited. But, I was back with a huge metallic gun. Before, It blew me away to smithereens, David Stein stepped in and blew the robot away. I walked home, feeling free and with the support of all the peeps living in this walled off city.

… Last night, I dreamt that I was putting together gift ideas. They resembled my 32 SOUVENIR pieces my project 🙃365+ show. They were part of an event that Steve was putting together. The event was taking place at somebody’s house. In real life, Steve is having an event today and I’m participating but instead of souvenirs, I’m doing a mini installation.

… Last night, I dreamt that I was put in charge of a school parking lot and was told, specifically, to watch out for the BROWN CAR. The guy who came out to pick up the car was a CHOLO. He was with his girlfriend. Because he was drunk, we both told him that he couldn’t drive. The 3 of us were now inside the car … she and I trying to convince him to get out. Quickly, he jumped out and pushed a button. The car automatically sped off and ZOOMED toward a wall. The two of us, safely flew out the windows. Cops were on the sideline ready to arrest him. A crowd had gathered, but once they dispersed, I thought I saw Oscar walk by with a girlfriend. I yelled, ‘I LOVE EWE!’ He turned around … it was Oscar, instead it was a cute blond boy who smiled.
💖P.S… I woke up with idea to do abstract… a little something different.

… Last night, I dreamt that I was back in EAST LA having a CELEBRATION for my 3yr old self. We were on the side yard next to our TREES. I was even showcasing my souvenir wall from project 🙃365+. Only a few peeps showed up. Right before we started, my TIA NELITA showed up to the house she was renting from Papa. MAMA forget to let her know that we’d be using it. Tia Nelita called Mama in for a chat. Mama came out and told us that we had to leave. My 3 year old self was pissed because I was a ring boy at her wedding. After we packed up to leave, I noticed a big FIRE happening in the house behind. As we left for cover, Mama got caught in the fence while trying to get away. We helped her out and found safety.
In part two, I was in an old Victorian house with a great VIEW. All I wanted was to SLEEP. In the morning, Mama brought in some guests from MEXICO and all they wanted was to be met by all of us. All I wanted was sleep. So, I pretended to be asleep when they came into the room. They were obnoxious and didn’t care. When I woke up, the room had been redecorated to fit their needs. They kept opening windows to wake me up. They wouldn’t leave me alone. Later, my cousin PATTY came in to try and convince me to get up and go on an outing. All I wanted was some ME TIME. The dream went on and on. At some point, my TEETH kept falling out and turning into souvenir trinkets. I kept trying to hide them from these guests because I didn’t want them to see what was going on …

💖P.S…. I woke up feeling heavy and not wanting to get up because I hadn’t gotten a good night sleep in the dream.

… Last night, I dreamt that I was in SF with best peeps Robert and Christine. Because Robert did some drugs, his boyfriend left. Christine, Robert and I then walked up a hill to a gay bar at somebody's house. Because it was quite empty and I was hungry, we left. Robert went on his way while Christine and I went back to her place for some french toast. Featuring new LITTLEZ: TOASTY

… Last night, I dreamt an uncle accused me of assaulting 3 boys. His sons backed him up. I confirmed that I hadn’t touched any of them. Somehow, the cops believed him and I was arrested. While in a detainment room 3 other peeps tried to kill me when I turned my back. A MUGSHOT wasn’t taken and I was put into a holding cell where everyone had a workout before showers. I got nervous because I was excited about seeing other men naked. But I never got to the showers. Instead, I was handed a stash of drugs by one of the guards. I was told to hide it in my crotch. In the room next over, I was found out by another guard … and that’s where the dream ended.
💖P.S…. While in the dream, I knew I hadn’t done it in real life, but then I questioned if I had in my dream life. Maybe I had, but I couldn’t recall the exact dream. The idea of this is interesting.

… Last night, I dreamt of a continuous erupting VOLCANO. Prior to the start, I was gathering little things and coordinating them by COLOR. Somewhere in here, my brain decided to do a LOTERIA card as my DREAM piece for today. After erupting a couple different times, I found myself asleep on top of a table with a boy and OSCAR MEZA. When Oscar got up to use bathroom, I got up and went inside to gather my things. We never saw the volcano erupting. We only saw the lava coming through. As I was leaving the place to run for safety, I saw Oscar coming out and wrapping a loose towel around him. I could see his BUTT. It was brown and beautiful.
The dream felt like it was on rewind, but each time, it was another scene. It gets blurry. Last thing I remember is that I went back inside to PAINT the backdrop to today’s dream piece. I didn’t want to forget the idea when I woke up. With a wet canvas, I ran out again in search of a safe spot.

💖P.S… this is an example of how dream life, art, and real life all jumble together. Only wish I recalled the blurry parts.

… Last night, I dreamt that, at an LA corner, I met up with my sisters MONI & BLANCA. From there, Moni and I took a walk down a familiar street that I know only in my dreams. As we walked by, we came across a most beautiful cemetery with mountains in the background.
… the rest is a blur.

… Last night, I dreamt that I was working at The HOTEL BEL AIR. As peeps were eating outdoors along the sidewalk, the POPE walked by out of uniform. As I walked by myself, I turned around when I heard someone make a snarky comment about molestation.

💖P.S. Before starting SHEƎP in early 2013, I had idea to do a series regarding the Pope, my sexuality and my religion. I even created a mockup book of the pieces I wanted to create. Yesterday, while getting ready for my show today, a page from the notebook fell out. Reason why the Pope appeared. Also, yesterday my good peep who I worked with at the hotel, he called me out of the blue.

… Last night, I dreamt that I was in a mountain town with the family. MAMA wanted us all to make a promise regarding our deaths. Because I didn’t want to do it, Mama took me into town and showed me STICKERS that had been put on TELEPHONE poles. They were PINK and WHITE. Don’t recall what they said, but it had to do with our family.
Once in town, Mama disappeared and I wandered around. There were a few cool artsy shops. As I headed back up the mountain, mean DOGS appeared. Before they attacked, I was able to pause them and headed back to the shops. I found @amysmith closing shop. She offered me a ride, but we had to walk up a super steep hill. More dogs appeared, but these were nice.
As we got closer to the car, a car came down the hill and crashed into a house. The HOUSE EXPLODED. I became afraid of getting in her car.

… Last night, I dreamt that I was at a resort with family and peeps. A strange girl walked upstairs, into the bathroom and took something. Me and my two sisters were like WTF. I followed her out and asked, ‘What the hell was that about. She didn’t care. I went back to our house and she followed behind me. I locked the glass doors, but she broke in anyways. I gave her a beating. A few seconds later, a team of resort workers and a COP stood by the glass door. I was going to be arrested. I looked over at Moni and Blanca and said, ‘Don’t worry, it’s just a DREAM. I turned around and pushed the cop down the stairs. I immediately snapped out of the dream. For a quick second, I popped back in and saw the cop getting back up. But just like that I woke up.

… Last night, I dreamt that I was working in a retail store and sister Moni found some FRAMES. I took her too our stockroom to see all the goodies in back. The next thing, I came down to a small storefront and a young COP came to the window with a PIZZA in hand. I PUNCHED him and took a bite of his cheese pizza. it was so good.

... writing this down sounds so weird.

… Last night, I dreamt that I was in a small village in MEXICO with my 2 little sisters. I had just landed and met them at a drag event. After a while, I wanted to get back to our hotel room in the next town over. They wanted to party on not realizing that after a certain time, it was going to be impossible to get a ride. I was irritated and only wanted to rest up. I never made it to the hotel and by late night, I was angry.
The next morning, after not sleeping, peeps gathered outside under a porch and had some food. Some kids provided a talent show. Out of nowhere, Alaska went up to the front and, on a chalkboard, she drew something. Then, she walked over to the kid sitting next to me, and with a RED marker in hand, and near her crotch, she offered it over to the boy. As the boy took it from her, she looked over and winked at me. She knew I had a bad night and wanted to to make me laugh.
Before I woke up, I was sitting at a large table. Except for a young lady and my Tia Mami, everyone was gone. Mami asked about my beliefs. I told her that she wouldn't like them. She wanted to hear them anyways. I began by telling her about my strong sense of childhood curiosity, followed by teenage questions eventually leading to not believing in god at 17. I woke up after I told her about starting to read self help books ... still CURIOUS.

… Last night, I dreamt that the latest queens of Drag Race, some hot boys, and myself arrived to RUPAUL'S house up in the hills. He was entertaining us all for the weekend. At some point, he asked me about SHEƎP. I told him about the series and that in some way, it's a form of drag, but that I never questioned my gender. We chatted for a bit and I came to realize that in some way I hid some of my feminine side. Playfully, he said something like, 'Let the SISSY be.'
While the queens partied outside, I jumped into the SWIMMING POOL and I didn't care about how my body looked. Later, we played cards with RU, but the game made no sense. When RU called it a night, the queens and the young boys continued to party outside. I stayed inside and played some sort of game while smoking CIGARETTES. In the morning, I noticed smoke coming from under the carpet. There were cigarette buds everywhere, but they weren't mine. The place was a mess. I called the queens to check out the smoke, but none of them cared. When RU woke up, I told him about the smoke. We looked under the carpet and small fires were begining. Patiently, he called 911 and went to a couch to wait for the fireman.

… Last night, I dreamt that I was working at a women’s store on 3rd Street. A young girl came in even though the shop wasn’t open. There was something strange about her. Immediately, she went to a really funny looking skirt. She slipped it on and instead of a skirt, she had a dress. She looked in the mirror, took it off, and threw it on the floor. She was on to other items. At this point, I realized she was going to steal anything she wanted. I grabbed her and told Mama to call 911. The girl was hard to contain. When a cop arrived, he too couldn’t contain her and had a challenge putting on handcuffs. At this point, the owner showed up and knew the girl. She had stolen many times before and was afraid of her.
